JAMES THIBODEAUX WINS KMTA SCHOLARSHIP; STUDENT OF FRAN MAYFIELD

James Alexander Thibodeaux will be graduating from SevenLakesHigh School in June and will be attending The University of Houston studying Computer Engineering and minoring in music. He played trumpet in Concert and Symphonic band his freshman year and Wind Symphony his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years, and in Jazz band for all four years; He also played in the school’s full orchestra all four years. He was the lead trumpet for the pit orchestra for the musical this year, “The Drowsy Chaperon,” and they were nominated for best pit orchestra for the Tommy Tunes awards. He received the outstanding jazz musician of the year from his director Damon Archer. He as advanced to state solo and ensemble the past three years and has advanced to audition for the state band the past two years. He is the son of Currnel J. Thibodeaux, Jr. (Jim) and┬áNorma Thibodeaux.

James has also taken piano lessons for the past 13 years and participated in numerous competitions and theory testing.
